Hereby a small word before I give you the English version of Arendsoog, hereafter named Eagle eye. I simply translate a chapter, maybe a few more parts, but probably not entire books. If there are enough people interested, I could send an e-mail to the family of the writers, and talk about translating their book. I would have to ask them if they would want a cut of the money, if a book is published, how much they want, and what things I can alter to give people a better understanding of the work that was left behind by the writers.

A word of caution: not everything will translate well. In the original Dutch books, there are a few core words in English(stranger, ranch, sheriff, deputy, babyface), but there are a few sayings that are Dutch through and through. This is difficult for people learning Dutch, visiting The Netherlands, dealing with Dutch people, et cetera. Nevertheless, the books are about a cowboy who is kind of a detective, who lives in the years after the American Civil War, in Arizona, has an indian friend, and is more angry when they are both refused because one of them isn't white. Also, the writer started writing the books in 1935, and after WW2 his books were published. In 1950, there was an audioversion of the book(s) on the radio, and it kicked off. In the books, you'll find that the cowboy is a catholic, although they often speak of the pastor and the indians, and at some point White Feather speaks of becoming Christian. There is a strong belief that God will help them, in the form of believing in providence. Making it out alive, because you stand on the side of the good.

Anyway, I will upload some more within the next few days, I hope to finish the chapter before the week is out, but we'll see how things go.
